This Thursday, hundreds of protesters filled the Queen’s Park lawn, led by CUPE Ontario and the campaign to Keep Hydro Public.

These voices joined together to oppose the privatization of our hydro, as Andrea Horwath presented her bill to demand a referendum: let the people of Ontario decide whether to proceed with the sell-off.

Day 2 – 52nd Annual CUPE Ontario Convention
With Yolanda K. McClean and Tim Maguire.

National action plan to address violence against women voted down in Parliament

“Violence against women and children costs Canadian society more than $7 billion a year. You would think those savings would be a huge impetus to make the changes, especially from a government that boasts about its management of the economy.” — James Clancy, NUPGE National President

Hundreds of union members and concerned Ontarians gathered outside Queen’s Park today for a rally to keep Hydro One public.

This rally took place just as Andrea Horwath and the Ontario NDP tabled a private member’s bill calling for a referendum to allow the people to decide whether or not to proceed with the Hydro One privatization.
